Strangford College receives planning approval for new school build
Strangford Integrated College was delighted to receive official approval recently for the planning application for its exciting new £18 million school build. The College is now at Stage 4 of the project which means the process for the appointment of a building contractor can move forward.
Clare Foster, Principal of Strangford College said, “We have been waiting for planning approval and are excited about the opportunities that the enhanced school facilities and state-of-the-art sports facilities will offer students, staff and the local community. We look forward to the appointment of the contractor, cutting the first sod and beginning the build.”
“We are thankful for the funding through the Fresh Start Programme from the Department of Education and their commitment to promote and encourage integrated education in Ards, North Down and the Peninsula. Despite the challenges of the Covid lockdown in terms of the project timetable, we have all been working hard to push the project forward.”
The purpose built school will have state-of-the-art sports facilities as well as excellent facilities for all subjects including STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths), Drama and Modern Languages.
