T:BUC Good Relations Camp Year 8
Year 8 had a brilliant day today on the first day of their T:BUC camp.
Strangford College secured T:BUC funding through the Education Authority to run a programme for students in Year 8 with a focus on good relations. The camp will run from Wednesday 6th November-Friday 8th November, with a follow up camp organised for mid-February.
Students were provided with a blue T:BUC hoodie to wear for the duration of the camp.
Everyone started the day with a yummy Ulster Fry in school followed by a series of cultural diversity workshops focusing on good relations and diversity in Northern Ireland.
Wonderful facilitators from ArtsEkta held workshops in Traditional Polish and Indian craft; African drumming; Chinese fan dancing; and yoga.
WheelWorks Arts provided drama and multi-media workshops in computer coding and game design.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the day and all of them learnt something new about a different country and culture. They threw themselves into all the activities and were a credit to our College! Well done everyone!
As part of the programme the year 8s will visit Ganaway for a team building day and also experience an ethos workshop day in school exploring the history of our College and what integrated education means to our students.
This is a really exciting opportunity and we are delighted to secure this funding for our students to give them a good insight into good relations and integrated education.
